Overview

The Randolph x Shelby America collaboration fused Randolph’s military-spec eyewear craftsmanship with the iconic spirit of Carroll Shelby and American racing culture. This project was conceived as a performance-driven lifestyle collection that merged heritage aviation eyewear with the bold aesthetics of Shelby Cobra and motorsport innovation.


My Role & Contributions

  • Lens Innovation: Designed exclusive lenses with Zeiss (LightPro semi-polarized technology), engineered to merge polarized clarity with natural vision.
  • Product Design: Created unique frame concepts across the Aviator II, Sportsman, and Archer silhouettesintegrating speed stripe bayonets and 
  • racing-inspired acetates.
  • Packaging: Designed premium product packaging aligned with Shelby’s performance heritage
  • Business Strategy:
    • Built a full forecast & 3-year ROI model to project revenue, production volume, and margin impact.
    • Created pitch decks to secure Shelby licensing approval and present the business case to Randolph leadership.
  • Cross-functional Development: Partnered with vendors for sample development, color/finish testing, and packaging execution.

Creative Direction

  • Design Inspiration: Carroll Shelby’s racing legacy  specifically the Cobra 427 and 1965 Mustang GT350 translated into eyewear through bold chrome finishes, racing stripes, and motorsport colorways (Cobra Blue, Hot Rod Red, Dayton Black).
  • Heritage + Innovation: Balanced Randolph’s Made in USA aviation roots with automotive performance, positioning eyewear as both a luxury lifestyle accessory and motorsport collectible.



Impact

The project expanded Randolph into the automotive space and demonstrated how eyewear could serve as a bridge between two American heritage icons. With strong ROI projections and wide retail potential, the Speedway Series positioned Randolph as both a fashion brand and a collaborator capable of telling cross-industry stories.
